Initial phase of main Fleming Way improvements to start next week
The transformation of Fleming Way will step up a gear next week when work begins on the western end of the key town centre road.

Members of the public may experience some disruption as Cheltenham Street car park will permanently close from next Tuesday (19 April).
Swindon Borough Council’s contractor for the new bus interchange and associated public realm, Colas UKP, will be working in the area until February 2023 and some diversion routes will be in place throughout the work.
The main part of the scheme will get underway from September this year with Fleming Way closed to all traffic between the junction of Milford Street and the Whalebridge junction. The overall scheme is scheduled to be completed in Autumn 2024.
Motorists will be directed around the town centre along clearly signed routes, and pedestrian routes across Fleming Way will remain open at all times throughout the project, enabling access between the town centre and the rail and bus stations.
Swindon bus station will also remain open throughout and buses currently stopping on Fleming Way will be redirected to other bus stops around town, including some new ones to be provided by the Council. More details will follow about these in due course.
