Swindon students celebrate A-Level results
Swindon’s A-Level students are celebrating another year of great results across the town.
Published: Tuesday, 10th August 2021
A total of 834 students received their results today and, of the 2,108 exam entries, 98.3 per cent were awarded a pass (A*-E).
In terms of pupils achieving the top grades, 31.2 per cent of A-Level entries were awarded A*-A. The number of entries awarded A* to B was 56.5 per cent. The results are currently provisional.
Results this year were based on teacher assessed grades due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and comparisons to last year’s results cannot be made.
Councillor Tim Swinyard, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Levelling Up, Communities and Place, said: “Well done to everyone on their results today. I know it’s been a tough, unprecedented time, with two years of disrupted lessons but you’ve all done amazingly well to come through the other end and this is a significant achievement.
“I’d like to thank all the teachers, support staff, governors, parents and guardians for all their hard work in making the school year as easy as possible for all students across the town.
“I know there will be some of you who didn’t get the results you wanted, but don’t be disheartened.
“There is lots of advice and support available via the National Careers Service for anyone who would like some help about what to do next. Exam results | National Careers Service
“I wish everyone the best of luck in the future, whether that’s further education or a first step into employment.”
