Groundwell Park and Ride goes on the market
The four-acre Groundwell Park and Ride site on Cricklade Road is now being offered for sale.

Last used in 2009 and closed because of low levels of use, the site is now for sale with hopes of a developer or owner occupier bringing a new lease of life to the area.
Signage will appear at the entrance to the site to advertise the property to potential buyers by the marketing agents over the coming days.
Councillor Russell Holland, Swindon Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Commercialisation, Education and Skills said: “This is a great sign of progress. Hopefully we can attract a buyer for the site and start to give it the much needed regeneration it deserves.
“Given the site’s location between residential and industrial areas, it has been assessed as having the potential to be redeveloped for either residential or commercial uses or even staying as a park and ride.”
The adopted planning development brief for the site gives the following potential alternative new uses:
- A residential space consisting of around 85 to 90 houses
- Residential development and a care home
- Commercial development, encompassing a proposed food store, self-storage, gym, trade counter, coffee drive thru and day nursery
- An extension to the Groundwell Industrial Estate to the north
Potential buyers are being asked to submit bids to the marketing agents before the closing date of 19 May 2021.
