TechSwindon Summit

The first TechSwindon Summit will take place between 2 and 6 November and will showcase the very best of local tech talent and innovation, with a number of online events and discussions scheduled throughout the week.

As well as promoting Swindon’s impressive tech cluster, the event will also bring people together to collaborate, while serving as an opportunity to attract additional talent and businesses to the area.

The summit will be free to join thanks to a number of local organisations including Catalent, Nationwide Building Society, Royds Withy King, SetSquared, Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Swindon Borough Council.

World-class speakers and business owners will share thoughts and insights under four themes: Tech, Talent, Business Resilience, and Innovation. Already over 20 exciting events are available including workshops, meet ups and seminars from local and global brands such as BT, the British Computer Society and Comptia.

One of the highlights of the week is The Techies, an annual awards celebration focused on all things tech in business for Swindon and beyond. More details will be added to the programme so people are encouraged to keep checking the event website.

Councillor David Renard, Leader of Swindon Borough Council, said: “Technology underpins almost every industry and job, and with over 10,000 people locally working in this area, it is vital to Swindon's economic recovery and growth.

“The TechSwindon campaign was launched at the Switch On To Swindon event last year, and although 2020 has been a tough year for businesses locally and globally, the tech sector is expected to remain resilient.

“Swindon is home to some of the best tech talent in the UK, with small and large companies alike creating world-class products and innovations and I'm thrilled that this event will show this to the world.”

The campaign team has already hosted 750 attendees at more than 20 events over the last year.

Scott Gulliver, CEO at Fluff Digital, said: “As a new start-up it’s great to know we are part of a wider community where we can find support and guidance alongside opportunities to contribute to the town where we started it all.

“TechSwindon is enabling some great conversations and opportunities that really allow us to grow and connect with customers and partners.”
