DRY is described as an edge-of-your seat drama about alcohol and the couple next door, while broadcaster Adrian Chiles described it as the best illustration he’s seen of how people can unwittingly fall into alcoholism.
Originally commissioned by the NHS, DRY is touring the country and is supported by Turning Point, which delivers drug and alcohol recovery services around the UK for people who want to make positive changes in their lives.
Written by Human Story Theatre’s Gaye Poole, the performance focuses on the lives of the Wilson family and the parents’ reliance on alcohol.
The play will include some local references and feature a question and answer session after the show with local guest professionals from Turning Point and other organisations to discuss the issues of the play, the impact of alcohol on communities and to highlight the support services that are available to people.
The drama gets underway at Swindon’s Central Library at 7pm on Saturday. Tickets in most venues are 'pay what you can' but booking is free through this link: https://humanstorytheatre.com/shows/
