The annual Children in Care celebration is an activity-filled day for all children who are looked after by the Local Authority and is an opportunity for their carers and Council staff to get together, have some fun and celebrate their success.
A bouncy castle, arts and crafts, a biscuit design competition and glitter tattoos brought smiles to the children who attended. A Swindon Town football coach was also on hand so youngsters could show off their skills.
The afternoon was brought to a close with a gift for every child from Anne Longfield, the Children’s Commissioner for England, including bracelets and audio book vouchers.
Councillor Mary Martin, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, said: “It is always incredibly heart-warming when we hold events for the children in our care because you can see just how much it means to the young people who take part.
“It is also a good opportunity to say thank you to all our wonderful carers for providing a loving and stable home for the children who need it. They all do a fabulous job and I am very grateful to each and every one of them.”
