Leader of the Council, Councillor David Renard, has extended the formal invitation to discuss issues relating to the Council’s budget and other matters relevant to the wider business community.
The meeting with senior councillors and council officers will be held on Tuesday, 22 January in Committee Room 6 at the Civic Offices, Euclid Street. It will start at 5pm.
Under Section 65 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, the Council has a duty to consult with representatives of Non-Domestic Ratepayers about its proposals for expenditure, in particular, about its proposed Budget and Council Tax Levels for the forthcoming year.
Cllr Renard said: “We sincerely hope members of the local business community attend this meeting as their feedback is extremely important to us.
“We need to get a good understanding of the views of local business people before we make important decisions on the budget next month. The meeting will also be a good opportunity to find out about some of the other important issues that are facing local businesses in Swindon.”
Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet will meet to discuss next year’s budget on Wednesday, 6 February before it is set by Full Council later that month.
