Heidi Alexander has been elected to represent Swindon South

Labour’s Heidi Alexander has been elected to represent Swindon South Constituency.

Ms Alexander received 21,676 votes to take the seat of former South Swindon MP, Robert Buckland, who received 12,070 votes. The Liberal Democrat’s candidate, Matthew McCabe, received 1,843 votes.

The Independent candidate, Martin Costello, received 472 votes, while the Green Party candidate, Roderick George Hebden, received 2,539 votes. Catherine Kosidowski, representing Reform UK, received 6,194 votes.

Turnout for the constituency was 61.92 per cent and 147 ballot papers were rejected.
