Early Years and Primary (2 to 11 years)
The Virtual School supports children in care during their early years, which is a critical stage of development. For children aged 3 to 4, the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is available to improve the quality of early education.
The Virtual School is responsible for ensuring that these children receive the necessary support during this time, which might include the following:
- access to high-quality early education
- The Virtual School ensures that children in care have access to good-quality early education settings, which are vital for their emotional, social and academic development
- monitoring progress
- The progress of each child is tracked closely and any concerns about developmental delays or difficulties are addressed in partnership with early education providers
- personal Education Plans (PEPs)
- Children in the early years also have PEPs that focus on their individual learning needs. The Virtual School Head supports these PEPs by ensuring that EYPP funding is used appropriately to enhance the child’s learning experience.
