Step 4: Apply for council housing
Apply for council housing
You will need to complete an online application form to join the housing register.
You will need a valid email address to create an online application. If you haven't got an email address, you can find help and advice at your local library.
If you haven't done so already, we recommend you take the time to read Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3 and our housing allocations policy before you apply for council housing.
If you are struggling to complete the application, you can request assistance from a relative, friend or guardian. If you do not have anyone that can support you to make a housing application, our local libraries have computers and may be able to assist you.
For further information and opening times please check our libraries content. Alternatively, you can contact housing for assistance
If you are at risk of losing your home or have been served notice on your tenancy, this does not automatically make you eligible for council housing. Information on other housing options is available in Step 2.
Please be patient with us and do not re-apply because we will be assessing applications in date order.
If you are accepted onto the housing waiting list and all proofs are provided within the timescale, your banding date will be the date of your application.
