What are we making better?
The Neurodevelopmental Conditions (NDC) Pathway was redesigned and launched in October 2019 to improve the experience of children and families seeking a diagnosis for neurodevelopmental conditions (including autism and ADHD). There were 1,261 people waiting for an assessment as of April 2019 this has now more than halved.
What does it mean?
The chart below shows the current waiting list broken down by financial year. Numbers indicate the number of children referred in that financial year, still waiting to be assessed.

The Waiting List Initiative is now complete. In total 51% of cases were returned to us for further evaluation or management. The ASD conversion rate was 94% which is very high.

What else is happening?
- EHCP/SEND demand has increased significantly by >30% between 2022 and 2023
- Our new nurse will start seeing patients from 15 April
- From April 2024, some EHCP/SEND cases will be transferred to the new Health Advisors for SEND (HAS) Team, which should decrease demand on our service
