Who can have a permit?
All residents living within one of the properties within the section of the street that is restricted, listed above, may apply for a maximum of two permits per household (one permit per vehicle). You can make an application online.
Cost of permits and administration charges associated with permits
Permits will be issued to residents on completion of the application process at the beginning of the trial period of a School Street free of charge. Permits will be valid for 24 months. Renewal of permits after the first 24 months will cost £10.00 per property. Visitor’s permits are not available.
The permit is valid for use in the restricted School Street stated. We reserve the right to reject any application or request a specific type of proof. See the school streets permit terms and conditions for full details.
Vehicle exemptions
We recognise it is necessary for certain vehicles to continue to have access to the street(s) covered by the restriction. As such the following exemptions apply:
- Any vehicle displaying a valid School Streets permit
- Council vehicles and statutory undertakers serving properties within the restricted roads
- Emergency services, doctors on call, district nurses, carers and support workers
- Delivery and postal services
- School buses and school transport serving the school within the restricted roads
- Public transport serving stops within the closure
- Blue Badge holders residing at, or visiting, properties or the school within the restricted roads
- Tradespeople serving properties within the restricted roads
School staff access
If the school has on-site parking, school staff will be permitted to enter the School Street during the timed restrictions to access the parking. If a member of staff is stopped, they may be asked to provide evidence, such as school ID, before being allowed to proceed through the restrictions.
We ask staff to avoid doing this if possible, and to arrive and leave the on-site parking outside the times the restrictions are in place. Staff will not be issued with a School Street permit.
