Coate Water bird hides
To get a better view of our resident and migrant birds at Coate Water why not use one of our hides? We have two hides within the Country Park, both of which are situated in the area that has been designated as a Local Nature Reserve.
Daily hire
For a small fee you can enjoy the hide for a day.
Key collection is from the warden team between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm, seven days a week.
The wardens can be contacted on 07824 550463 You will need to contact the wardens in advance to make arrangements for payment and key collection.
Payment is cash only.

Permit holders (season)
It is possible to apply for a permit which will allow unlimited access to the hides for a season. The season runs from April to April.
A hide application form (PDF) can either be downloaded from this page or picked up onsite from the warden team.
A £5.00 key deposit is required plus two passport sized photographs for the application form.
Permits can be issued via the warden team between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm, seven days a week.

Payment can be made with cash or cheque made payable to 'Swindon Borough Council'.

Children and young adults under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Hides are a place for quiet observation so please be mindful and respectful of your fellow users.
Concessions:
- state pension age or 66+
- receiving GOV income support or disability allowance
- a full time adult student
Please note: Proof of support allowance or student placement plus photo ID must be shown at time of purchase or else no discount applied.
This can be a letter or document on paper or an email on your phone, however the names on the letter or document and the photo ID must match.
