Moredon sporting hub

Questions and answers about the hub

The project has delivered a new, state of the art, multi-sports facility on the site of Moredon playing fields.

This includes:

  • a 1km long, competition level cycle track
  • a brand new 3G all weather football pitch
  • a new pavilion with a community room and changing rooms
  • two refurbished cricket pitches
  • three full size grass football pitches

It also has a car park with EV charging points.

The whole project cost £6.3 million.

Swindon Borough Council provided the majority of the funding for the project. Other funding was obtained from:

  • Central Swindon North Parish Council
  • The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation
  • ECB and DCMS sponsored Places to Ride Programme in conjunction with British Cycling and administered by Sport England

The project was completed in Spring 2024.

The facilities are available for the local and wider Swindon communities.

The aim is also to generate regional and national interest to hold competitions on the cycle track.

Three contractors carried out different parts of the project:

  • Snape Contracting - the pavilion
  • Spadeoak - the cycle track and car park
  • Mcardle Sport Tech - the all-weather football pitch
