The family service
The Family Service will work with vulnerable children, young people and their families from pre-birth to 18 years of age. The service receives its referrals from the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), the locality Social Work teams and health visitors.
We are based at the Everleigh Centre in Penhill but will outreach to families across the whole of Swindon, providing the right support at the right time when it is required. The Family service consists of four pods across the Borough of Swindon based within North and South locality teams.
We will support children and families who's needs require a multi-agency response due to their complexity or significance, assessed as requiring level 2 intervention within the threshold document, or level 3 where they are working alongside a social worker.
Some of the reasons families will work with the family service include:
- prevention of children entering the care system
- de-escalation of family difficulties, which may include issues around debt, substance misuse and domestic abuse
- helping to improve family relationships and routines
- supporting access to work and training
- child exploitation
- parent or child mental health and emotional well-being support
The Family Service hosts the Family Group Conferencing Service. The Family Group Conference service is a mediated decision-making process led by family members, children and extended family and friends.
