Children under five with special educational needs
The Swindon Early Years Centre supports children under five with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families. The centre provides:
- Special Tots groups
- An Ofsted-registered early years setting for children aged 2 to 5. Sessions run:
- Morning: 9.00am to midday
- Afternoon: 1.00pm to 4.00pm
- Closed: Wednesday afternoons
- An Ofsted-registered early years setting for children aged 2 to 5. Sessions run:
- Portage home visiting
- For children with identified complex needs, offering developmental support in the home environment.
- Targeted support
- Specific assistance tailored to the child’s needs, such as:
- completing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) forms
- early help and support records
- short-term, focused pieces of work
- Specific assistance tailored to the child’s needs, such as:
- Signposting and guidance
- Helping parents navigate the SEND system, offering advice and directing families to additional services
- Early Bird programme
- A course for parents of children under 5 years old who:
- have a diagnosis of autism
- are on the Neurodevelopmental Conditions (NDC) pathway
