Supervised family contact
Some children and young people may not have a stable family life. When a child is in care, supervised family contact ensures their safety and emotional well-being during family visits.
These visits provide a safe space where parents and children can:
- re-establish relationships
- rebuild trust
- develop stronger family bonds
The goal is to enhance the long-term quality of family relationships.
Supervised family contact is also available to families whose children are not in care, but only if the child has a social worker.
Who is this service for?
This service supports children and young people (up to the age of 18) who are in care, as well as their families.
Who can request this service?
Supervised family contact is requested by the child's social worker. In most cases, these visits are directed by the court.
Meetings are arranged in settings suitable for the child’s age and needs, ensuring their safety and comfort.
