Family advisory board
The Family Advisory Board (FAB) supports families involved in social care and helps bridge the gap between families and professionals.
What does FAB do?
FAB works with parents and family members who have experienced social care involvement. By gathering their views, feedback, and priorities, FAB aims to improve services across Swindon.
Why is this work important?
FAB offers support to families during tough times by connecting them with others who have faced similar challenges. It ensures everyone's voice is heard and helps families understand what is happening and why.
Who can join FAB?
You can join FAB if:
- you have personal experience of social care involvement
- you are willing to share your experiences and ideas to help improve services
How to get involved?
Experts by Experience Panel
The Experts by Experience Panel contributes to improving services by:
- providing feedback on reports
- supporting training and recruitment efforts
- helping professionals work better with families
Panel members attend monthly meetings to share their perspectives and work on projects. These projects highlight the experiences of parents and families involved in social care and are shared with professionals.
Parents and family members with experience of Swindon’s children’s social care are encouraged to join. This is a voluntary role and expenses are covered.
