  • 2-25yrs who have a physical disability and/or complex medical condition
  • With or without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) 
  • Who are in their local preschool, mainstream primary/secondary school, SRP, special school or college (except Uplands or Brimble Hill special schools)

Specialist educational advice and support, to improve inclusive opportunities and educational outcomes for children who have a physical disability and/or a complex medical need.

The service provides specialist educational advice and support, to improve inclusive opportunities and educational outcomes for Swindon children and young people who have a physical disability and/or a complex medical need.

Mission statement:

“The Service aims to improve provision, support and resources for Swindon Children and Young People who have a Physical Disability or Complex Medical need. Support is available for the student, their family and educational staff. We work in line with recommendations from the SEN Code of Practice (2001), the SEN Disability Act (2005), and other current legislation.”

What we offer:

  • Advice for settings so they can best meet the needs of the pupils in their care
  • Advice about adapting and access to the curriculum, specialist resources, etc
  • Support for transition between settings
  • Advice for Risk Assessments, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)
  • Provide specialist equipment from central stores
  • Adaptations to PE
  • Environmental audits
  • Manual Handling, Disability Awareness training
