How to spot and avoid Penalty Charge Notice scams
Be aware of fake parking QR codes and fraudulent Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) text messages. For more information on protecting yourself from potential scams, visit the British Parking Association (BPA) website.
Watch out for:
- tampered or suspicious-looking QR codes
- QR codes that lead to unfamiliar websites
- PCN text messages from unknown numbers
- text messages with strange or suspicious website links
To stay safe:
- use official parking apps or visit the website directly
- double check any links before making a payment
- contact us if something seems suspicious by calling 01793 445500 or emailing parking@swindon.gov.uk to verify your PCN
Pay a penalty charge notice online
To pay for a parking fine you will need the following:
- The Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) number found on your parking ticket
- The vehicle registration number

If you pay for a parking fine within 14 days, you pay the lower amount shown on the ticket.
